S'more Bearly Gorp
(no cooking is required)
3 cups teddy graham crackers
1 cup tiny marshmallows
1 cup roasted peanuts
1/2 cup chocolate pieces
Combine all ingredients in a reclosable
bag and shake gently to mix.
Makes 5 cups. Package for treats.
Shake-a-Sack (no
cooking is required)
3 cups small square cheese crackers
3 cups oyster crackers
2 cups bite-size pretzel
1 0.4-ounce package buttermilk salad dressing mix
3 tablespoons canola oil
In a bowl combine crackers and oil, sprinkle
with dressing mix and stir.
Store in reclosable plastic bag.
Makes 9 cups. Package for treats.
Go Fish
These snacks are fun stored in a gold fish bowl. To keep them fresh,
cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap and secure with a rubber
band.
2 cups round toasted oat cereal
2 cups small pretzels
2 cup small fish shape crackers
1 cup dry roasted peanuts
1/3 cup canola oil
2 teaspoons Worcester shire sauce
In a 13x9x2-inch backing pan combine
oat cereal, pretzel sticks, fish shape crackers, and nuts.
Stir together oil and Worcester shire sauce; drizzle over mixture, tossing
to coat evenly.
Bake in a 300 degree oven for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cool. Store in a tightly covered container. Package for treats.
Makes about 7 cups.
Popcorn balls
2 quarts popped popcorn
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup corn syrup
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 250
degrees. Put popcorn in a large deep buttered baking pan. Keep warm
in the oven.
Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter and salt in a saucepan.
Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves and reaches 250 degrees
on candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Remove popcorn from oven.
Pour syrup mixture over popcorn, stirring to mix well.
Lightly grease two large spoons or the palms of your hands with butter.
Form mixture into balls while syrup is still hot.
Makes approximately 16-1/2 cup balls.
Wrap in colored cellophane to give trick-or-treaters, or serve in a
bowl to friends and family as a treat after dinner.
