Spicy Nuts
1 pound pecan or walnut halves
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
2 teaspoons salt
6 tablespoons butter
Melt butter in a large skillet until it sizzles;
do not brown. Add chili powder, cayenne and salt; stir to blend but
do not brown. Remove from heat and toss in nuts. Stir to coat each nut
in seasoned butter. Place in a single layer on baking sheet with sides.
Bake until pecans are golden, about 7 minutes at 350 degrees. Watch
carefully, do not brown. Cool completely and store in air tight container
at room temperature.
