Butter Cookies
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon cardamom pod, fresh ground
With an electric mixer, cream butter
, combine with sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the egg and mix until
smooth. Sift dry ingredients into batter, in three applications, thoroughly
combining after each addition.Chill dough for an hour. Roll out dough
in small portions. Cut with a small cutter ( I prefer round or leaf
shape) Brush top with milk and bake in preheated 400 degree oven 8 to
10 minutes. Makes 3 dozen. I do triple this recipe with success. Store
in the refrigerator and bake as needed.
